Summary
Known as the Great Dog Demon, this powerful yokai lord ruled the Western Lands and was famous across Japan. Although he was never formally addressed by a name, he fathered two sons with different mothers: Sesshomaru, born to his consort, an unnamed dog demoness, and InuYasha, born to a human woman. While the manga leaves the mother unnamed, the third movie identifies her as Izayoi. He is first mentioned in chapter 12 of the manga as InuYasha’s father, described as a demon dog that prowled the western lands. His primary adversary in the series was the dragon Ryuukotsusei. Although he could not kill the dragon, he sealed it onto a cliff face with his claw. Myouga refers to this battle as the cause of his death.
