Summary
Romania represents the Republica Română, a nation with Bucharest as its capital and Romanian as its official language. Introduced as a new character in 2011, he made his manga debut in volume four and is depicted as a seemingly mischievous young man. In a recent colored illustration by Hidekaz Himaruya, he is shown sporting light reddish-brown hair and reddish eyes. His birthday is celebrated on 1 December, and his national flower is the Dog Rose, though his specific age and height remain unknown. His relationship with Hungary is notoriously strained; they do not get along at all, leading Hungary to name her dogs after famous Romanians. In retaliation, jokes originating from Romania frequently target Hungarians, similar to how "Polack" jokes or "In Soviet Russia..." jokes function elsewhere. Professionally, his character profile notes a businesslike dynamic with Italy and Germany, while he has recently made efforts to befriend Turkey. Personality-wise, Romania is described as sly, eccentric, and somewhat careless, yet he retains a very friendly demeanor. Like England, he is capable of performing black magic and holds a strong belief in the supernatural, the occult, and folklore. Despite this dark side, he possesses a romantic streak, often dreaming of fairy tales involving princesses. He is depicted with fangs, likely referencing the folklore that vampires originate from Transylvania within his borders, though it remains unconfirmed if he is actually a vampire. Additionally, his left ear is pierced, while the status of his right ear is unknown.
