Raidō Namiashi serves as a Tokubetsu Jōnin within Konohagakure. Although he has participated in a limited number of battles, he has rarely been depicted engaging in prolonged combat. His reputation as a capable warrior is suggested by his former role as a bodyguard to the Third Hokage and the fact that the Sound Four were forced to activate their cursed seals just to overcome him. During an incident where Hidan and Kakuzu tried to assassinate Kotetsu and Izumo, Raidō stepped in to defend them, successfully fighting off Kakuzu using a distinctive sword known as the Ebony Blade (黒刀, Kokutō). This weapon appears similar to a katana but features a dark, non-reflective finish.
