Summary
Yokozuna is a colossal sumo-wrestling frog who shared a bond with the legendary shipwright Tom, serving as both his friend and pet until Tom’s execution. In the wake of this loss, Yokozuna began swimming through the waters surrounding Water 7, deliberately obstructing the Sea Train in an attempt to halt its progress. This behavior stems from his desire to grow stronger so that he will never have to lose another loved one. The Straw Hat Pirates first encountered him when Zoro spotted the giant frog from the Going Merry, swimming with a human-like gait. Upon hearing this, Luffy ordered a slight course correction toward Water 7 with the intent of capturing the creature for a barbecue. Later, while the Straw Hat Pirates, Galley-La Foremen, and the Franky Family were en route to Enies Lobby aboard the Rocket Man, Yokozuna attempted to stop their journey as well. However, he ultimately assisted them in their efforts to rescue Franky and Nico Robin. During the battle at Enies Lobby, Yokozuna was tasked with guarding the courthouse against government agents. He held his ground effectively until the arrival of the Jurors, who attacked him. He was subsequently rescued by the giants Oimo and Kaashii, who joined him in defending the courthouse. Yokozuna eventually boarded the Sea Train with the Franky Family, the Galley-La crew, and the giants before returning to Water 7. He was last seen in a side story title page, no longer obstructing the trains. Notably, Franky is credited with teaching Yokozuna how to swim using the crawl-stroke technique.
