Summary
Ichijou possesses monstrous physical strength that starkly contrasts with her weak and feminine appearance, a fact that amazes even her strongest male classmates. She is arguably more powerful than Harima and Hanai in terms of raw muscle strength, evidenced by her ability to carry a piano without any signs of physical stress while the other two struggled near breakdown carrying objects of the same size. As a member of the amateur wrestling club, she struggles to control her power, once nearly suffocating Tenma while covering her mouth to prevent her from revealing secrets. Her only rival in this regard is Lala Gonzalez, whom she has not been able to physically defeat in a standard match, though she did defeat her using her ultimate move, the "Frankensteiner." Despite Lala's antagonism, Ichijou remains polite and the two eventually develop into friends. Despite her immense power, Ichijou has a kind nature and is one of the more timid girls in class 2-C. She is in love with Imadori but becomes embarrassed when this is hinted at. Imadori initially avoids her due to her small stature—though it is later revealed that she has considerably large breasts—and his fear of her strength. She is also a talented singer, with her performances featured in episodes 2 and 6 of School Rumble - Second Term. When Imadori asked her why she liked wrestling, she admitted she really did not want to participate. Later, while Imadori, Harima, and Hanai worked for a moving company, they discovered Ichijou was also employed there and witnessed her strength firsthand. At the end of their shift, Imadori accidentally promised to take Karen on a date with his earnings, an offer she accepted even though he did not mean it.
