Summary

Toutousai is an elderly blacksmith and a close friend of Inu-no-Taishou, the father of InuYasha and Sesshoumaru, for whom he forged the legendary swords Tessaiga and Tenseiga. He makes rare appearances, primarily to repair damaged blades or to instruct InuYasha on unlocking the hidden powers within the Tessaiga. In combat, he can breathe fire and wields a massive forging hammer, while traveling through the air atop Mō-Mō, a flying three-eyed ox yōkai. The name "Tōtōsai" translates to "sword purification."
