Shiori

Summary

Shiori is the daughter of Tsukuyomaru, a member of a bat-demon clan that typically fed on the blood of humans and animals. Her mother’s village had served as one of their hunting grounds, but Tsukuyomaru differed from his kin by refusing to kill humans. He eventually met Shizu and fell in love with her. Following Shiori’s birth, the clan’s attacks ceased, bringing peace to the village until Tsukuyomaru died unexpectedly. To halt the renewed threats, Shizu agreed to hand Shiori over to her father, Taigokumaru. Although Shiori was initially terrified of her grandfather and reluctant to leave, the villagers persuaded her to go with him. Despite the peace her father had secured, Shiori faced constant bullying throughout her childhood because she was a half-demon. Her mother suffered similar discrimination, and the two lived in seclusion, highlighting the villagers’ ingratitude for Tsukuyomaru’s kindness. When Taigokumaru broke his promise, the villagers attacked Shizu, but the assault was stopped by Inuyasha and his friends. Like her father and grandfather, Shiori possesses the ability to generate barriers using a red orb known as the Blood Coral Crystal. This power is inherited across generations and fades once the duty is passed on. The barriers created by the bat demons are impenetrable, capable of deflecting Tessaiga’s Kaze no Kizu and withstanding the Backlash Wave.
