Ikumi, Kyouko
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Kyouko Ikumi is a polite and refined student who has attended Fujigaya since her elementary days. Possessing an air of maturity that sets her apart from her peers, she often serves as a confidante for those seeking advice. However, she hides a fairly immature side that is only revealed to her inner circle. As the first friend Akira makes at the Academy, Kyouko is recognized as a great beauty, with Akira describing her as "sexy," and she draws the attention of girls even from middle school. Despite this widespread admiration, she appears largely uninterested in others, reserving her energy for her friends and her love interest, whom Akira correctly identifies as a woman. It is eventually revealed that Kyouko is in love with Yasuko, with whom she shares a significant history. Her feelings are spurned, and she is unenthusiastically engaged to her cousin, Kou. Kyouko initially treats Kou coldly, claiming their connection exists by "name only," though she later begins to warm up to him and accepts his company rather than consistently rejecting him. Throughout the series, Kyouko remains steadfast in her love for Yasuko, hoping for reciprocation despite Yasuko’s numerous warnings that her efforts are futile. Kyouko accepts Fumi as an acquaintance despite having "lost" Yasuko to her. Understanding the importance of Fumi to Akira, Kyouko gracefully initiates a slow, awkward, yet emotionally supportive friendship with her based on mutual interests. On a personal level, Kyouko suffers from a strained home life and harbors severe, deep-seated issues with her mother, feelings for which she feels ashamed.
