Miyakawa, Hikage

Summary

Hikage Miyakawa is the youngest character in the Lucky Star series, born on September 6 at the age of nine. She is the younger sister of Hinata Miyakawa and attends the fourth grade in class 4-1 at Sakura-en Public elementary school. Her visual design varies across media; in the original game, she is depicted with long, light-purple hair styled with a thin braid on the right side used as a ribbon, along with upward-slanting light-blue eyes. In contrast, both the anime and manga portray her with short, blue hair. Hikage exhibits a classic Tsundere personality and harbors a strong dislike for otaku culture and mannerisms. This animosity stems from her sister’s devout hobby, which consumes the majority of their household income on manga, anime, and doujinshi. Consequently, Hikage dreams of growing up to hold a job that allows her to support them financially and purchase more expensive items. Due to their tight budget, she is often hungry, sometimes dreaming of eating meat, and frequently chides Hinata for wasting money on non-essential items rather than food like hamburger steak. Her first anime appearance is a brief background shot in Episode 12, followed by a scene in Episode 16 where she approaches the counter after Kagami, Tsukasa, and Miyuki purchase a Code Geass doujin from Hinata, announcing her hunger. She appears again in Episode 24 at Ryōō High School’s culture festival, where she becomes upset after learning they arrived a day too early to enter, criticizing Hinata for spending money on train tickets instead of better food. In the manga, specifically the Moe Drill episode 87, Hikage accidentally discards some of Hinata’s manga volumes, discovers her sister watching late-night anime, and gains an appreciation for the value of their collection. A recurring fear for Hikage is getting in trouble with her sister, which involves being forced to go vegetarian for a week, a punishment Hinata has actually enforced.
