Yatori
Summary
Once referred to as 'furball,' Yatori originally served Akura-ou, who had murdered his previous master during a siege match. Enduring constant ridicule and neglect due to his repulsive appearance and foul odor, his patience finally snapped when he was paired with Kirakaburi. Following Kirakaburi’s severe injury at the hands of Tomoe’s sword, Yatori consumed his partner, which caused his physique and power to expand significantly. When he discovered a human named Suke observing him, he forced the boy to plead for his life, a moment that filled him with immense satisfaction. Seeking validation from Akura-ou, Yatori began devouring human intruders to protect his lord, but was dismissed once again because of his looks. In a desperate attempt to gain favor, he coerced Suke into eating him, allowing Yatori to seize control of the body and adopt the name 'Yatori'. Operating under this new guise, he deceived Jirou to take command of Kurama Mountain, aiming to demonstrate his value to Akura-Ou. He concealed the soul of Third Chief Soujoubou within the Raijiuyuu to empower Jirou’s rule, but his scheme ultimately failed, forcing him to retreat to Kirihito. Later, Yatori accompanied Akura-Ou on a second expedition to Yomi-no-Kuni. There, they found the lord’s body atop a mountain of flames. Unable to ascend, Yatori convinced a reluctant Akura-Ou to return to the surface while they devised a better strategy.
