Gorgon, Medusa

Summary

Medusa serves as the primary antagonist in Soul Eater, acting as the mother of Crona and the mastermind behind her son’s soul-collecting rampage. She instilled a twisted moral compass in Crona, convincing her that taking any soul was acceptable, and when her resolve wavered, Medusa implanted a hypnotic spell to force her into a killing frenzy. Operating under the dual disguises of a teacher and a nurse at Shibusen, she exploited her position to access student records and observe potential candidates for becoming kishin. Her manipulative nature is ruthless; she views everyone as experiments, much like Dr. Stein, and employs extreme measures such as planting snake bombs in fellow witches to ensure their compliance without compromising her own soul protection. Her aesthetic and magic are heavily snake-themed, marked by her constant chanting of "Nake snake cobra cobubra" and her ability to command thousands of serpents within her body. During the awakening of the first kishin, Medusa fought Dr. Stein at the school’s lowest level. Although she held the advantage, her distraction upon Asura’s resurrection allowed Stein to bisect her. He delivered a final, fatal blow through her skull, causing her body to evaporate, though a snake bearing her arrow markings escaped through a drainpipe, suggesting her survival. Medusa was indeed proven alive when she possessed a young girl named Rachel. Later, after acquiring the legendary artifact BREW, she led a group of Shibusen students to attack her older sister, the witch Arachne.
