Piccolo Daimao
Summary
Piccolo Daimao is a prominent antagonist in the Dragon Ball franchise, appearing in the main series and occasionally in flashbacks within Dragon Ball Z. Introduced as a powerful Mazoku, he once plunged Earth into chaos, transforming the peaceful planet into a living hell by birthing a brood of animal-like Namekians from his own body. It is later revealed that he is the evil half and twin brother of Kami, with the two originally being a single entity. His name derives from the musical instrument, which explains why all his sons are named after various musical instruments; while he is named after a flute, his offspring are named after percussion instruments. Approximately 300 years before the start of Dragon Ball, a powerful Namekian on Earth attempted to become the planet's guardian but was rejected due to the evil concealed within him. He underwent intense training to expel this darkness, resulting in the creation of two separate beings linked by a shared existence; if one died, the other would perish as well. The concentrated evil became Piccolo Daimao. Initially, "Piccolo" referred to the wind instrument, but Mr. Popo later revealed to Bulma that it translates to "different world" in the Namekian language. It remains unclear whether Piccolo Daimao was aware of his Namekian heritage, although he spoke the language and utilized powers and techniques of Namekian origin, including the replication of Guru's throne. If he did know his origins, it suggests that the evil residing within Kami stemmed from his past as a Namekian warrior.
