Summary
Radu, also known by the codename Flammenschwert or Flamberg, is a lower-class noble from the New Human Empire and the foster brother of Ion Fortuna. Born in 3045 AD, he holds the title of Baron of Luxor and ranks as a 6=5 'Adeptus Major' within the Order of the Rose-Cross. As a member of the Empire's extremist movement, he joined the Orden with the intent of inciting war between the Terrans and the Methuselah. As Ion’s closest friend, Radu was originally sent to accompany Ion on a diplomatic mission to the Vatican. However, he was manipulated by Dietrich von Lohengrin to work for the Rosenkreuz. His primary objective was to assassinate Ion, whom he considered a traitor to the Empire, and later to kill the Empress. Radu possesses pyromancy, allowing him to generate and control blue flames that also manifest from his spilled blood. During the mission, he attempted to kill Ion but failed. He was subsequently killed by Sister Paula, and his body was burned by sunlight. Dietrich recovered the remains and reanimated Radu using artificial blood and skin, keeping him under control. Radu survived an earlier attack by Sister Paula long enough to seize control of the Inquisitorial Department's weapons. After his second death following a battle with Abel in his Crusnik form, Dietrich reanimated him once more. During this final conflict, Radu briefly regained his original personality and saved Ion’s life before being completely destroyed by Seth, who had transformed into her Crusnik form.
