Meng, Shi
Summary
Meng Shi served as a prostitute and was one of the many short-term lovers of Jin Guangshan, ultimately becoming the mother of Jin Guangyao. She distinguished herself as a prominent figure among her peers, largely due to her rare literacy and artistic talents, which included composing poems, singing, painting, and playing the guqin and chess. This level of education was uncommon for a prostitute during her era. Following rumors of her fame, Jin Guangshan visited her once and gave her a pearl as a keepsake. When she became pregnant, Meng Shi harbored hopes that her privileged lover would return to redeem her and her son from their circumstances.
