Summary
Yoshitaka Yamane appears during the Junior High story arc as a member of the Mifune Junior High School baseball team, though he primarily uses his membership as an excuse to skip classes alongside a group of followers. His bullying nature becomes evident when he and his friends assault Komori after the latter insists that inactive players must leave the squad. Yamane subsequently intimidates the rest of the roster into quitting. When Goro confronts him, Yamane confesses his deep-seated hatred for baseball stems from a previous injury that rendered him unable to throw with his right arm. Drawing on his own experience with a similar injury, Goro instructs Yamane on how to throw left-handed. This guidance allows Yamane to return to the team, taking up the position of first base, and he eventually progresses to Mifune High School alongside Komori.
