Mizuno, Youko
Summary
Youko joined Lillian during her first year of middle school, and despite her background in an external schooling system, she was chosen to deliver the welcome address for incoming first-years. She is portrayed as calm and sharp, yet possessing a mischievous streak, with the manga describing her as being "lily" like. One of her happiest memories involves witnessing the Rose Mansion filled with ordinary students during the Bouton's card hunt. In her second year of high school, Rosa Gigantea and Rosa Chinensis, the respective onee-samas of Sei and Youko, manipulated Youko into taking an interest in Ogasawara Sachiko. Youko observed that Sachiko always appeared to be battling internal conflicts. Driven by an insatiable desire to help, or meddle as Sei called it, Youko adopted Sachiko as her petite soeur. She encouraged Sachiko to drop her after-school lessons and reprimanded her for suppressing her emotions and opinions, mirroring the behavior Sachiko had previously exhibited toward Yumi. Before graduating, Youko asked Yumi to look after her stubborn and "uncute" younger sister. Later, during the separation between Sachiko and Yumi, Youko felt a twinge of jealousy over their close bond. Even after leaving Lillian, she maintains the role of Sachiko's onee-sama. Aside from Sachiko, Youko is closest to Satou Sei. They met in middle school when Youko approached Sei about joining clubs. Sei asked if Youko felt alienated from the class, but Youko admitted she was simply interested in Sei. Uninterested in this connection, Sei labeled her a meddler. Throughout Sei's relationship with Shiori, Youko was the one consistently trying to reach out, and she was also the one who asked Shiori to leave Sei a letter upon her departure. Fans often speculate that Youko harbors unrequited feelings for her friend, making the Sei/Youko pairing highly popular within the fandom. After graduating from Lillian, Youko enrolled in law school. She tearfully confessed that she would have preferred to attend a liberal arts college, but recognized that such a path would not have allowed her to help people in the way she desired.
