Pyron, Lee

Summary

Lee Pyron, widely recognized as "The White Dragon," was a celebrated kung fu movie star whose life ended in suspicious circumstances, serving as a thinly veiled reference to the real-life Bruce Lee. Rather than being a traditional spirit, Pyron is a living corpse reanimated by Tao Jun using her ofuda. He was murdered by the Tao clan to serve as Jun’s jiangshi bodyguard, a role he fulfills by remaining perpetually by her side. In the English anime adaptation, his name is localized as Lee Pai-Long. Born on November 29, 1948, Pyron died mysteriously at the age of thirty, and his body vanished following his funeral. Upon regaining self-awareness, he forgave Tao Jun for her family’s actions and developed a strong attachment to her. His martial arts foundation was established by his sensei, Sha-wen, who founded a parody of the Shaolin tradition known as the Chaolin Temple Style. Sha-wen also created the Ruichong-quan kung-fu style, which became the basis for Pyron’s own technique, Daodan-do. The name Daodan-do references the Chinese word for "missile" and blends Boxing, Muay Thai, and Karate. Pyron had intended to perfect this art form before passing it on, but he died before he could complete his work. Notable moves in his style include the Fu chong Hong Zha si, a series of matrix-like flips resembling a dive bomber; the Hong Zha Jiao, a face thrust using the right leg; and the Dao Dan Jiao, a sudden body thrust with the legs.
