Summary
Koharu is Akito’s late mother, whose death during childbirth deeply damaged the relationships between Akito, Natsumi, and Fuyuki. Although she has been deceased for over a decade by the start of the series, she appears intermittently through memories, photographs, and flashbacks. Her most significant appearance occurs in Volume Eight, when Akito experiences a near-death event. Koharu manifests as a stranger, advising him that he is too young to die and possesses the strength to survive. Upon recognizing her as his mother, she echoes Sana’s words from Volume One, telling Akito that she loves him and urging him to live for both of them. In her youth, Koharu was known as a troublemaker or "wild" individual, similar to Fuyuki, with the manga noting that she was once a Yankee.
