Summary
Tane is Chiri’s older sister, serving as a stark contrast to her sibling by being an utter slob whose very presence generates disarray and filth. Harumi notes that Tane’s messy nature is largely a reaction to Chiri’s influence. A flashback reveals a younger Chiri and Tane with a pet goldfish; when Chiri suggests cleaning the tank by pouring in shampoo, Tane attempts to dissuade her. Tane then jumps into a mud pile, a move Nozomu interprets as a strategy to curb Chiri’s overly proper demeanor. Despite her current state, Tane admits she wishes she could dress nicely and go on dates like a typical girl. Like other girls in Nozomu’s class, she develops a crush on him. Her name originates from the Japanese word kittanee, meaning "dirty."
