Summary
Luak served as a pirate captain operating out of Roanapur, frequently raiding the coastal and riverine areas of nearby Thailand. While competent, he possessed a troublesome habit of drawing unwanted attention, a point noted by Chin, who recalled an instance where a warship once pursued Luak. His final assignment came from the minor crime boss Chin, who was resentful of Dutch for favoring Balalaika over him. Chin hired Luak to ambush and eliminate Dutch and the Lagoon Company, providing the crew with bogus job information obtained from a trusted source to lure them into a trap. The mission was a failure from the outset. When Luak’s six boats attempted to flank the Black Lagoon, Dutch reversed the ship’s engines, causing a friendly-fire incident that destroyed one of Luak’s vessels. Revy then took command, boarding four remaining ships, killing their crews, and destroying them with a grenade launcher. Realizing the situation was lost, Luak attempted to flee, but Revy destroyed his boat, killing him. Chin was subsequently killed by Balalaika and Hotel Moscow.
