Gaidar, Alexander
Summary
Alexander Gaidar makes his debut in Battle 180 as a man in his early thirties who serves as the Command Sambo Master of Yami's One Shadow Nine Fists and the mentor to Boris Ivanov. Born in Russia, he rose through the military ranks to become a colonel before joining Yami and ascending to the rank of One of the Nine Fists. His Yami Symbol is Ice, and he identifies as a Dou-type Satsujin Ken practitioner. Visually, he is distinguished by long, wavy, light-colored hair that reaches his shoulders and strikingly colored dark eyes. His wardrobe typically alternates between military uniforms and artist attire. Gaidar possesses a volatile temperament, capable of shifting from a nonchalant exterior to a raging state in an instant, though his lack of control exceeds even that of Ogata. To maintain a sense of peace amidst the constant violence, he engages in sculpting and painting. He harbors a deep disdain for firearms, referring to them as "dirty metal," and will execute anyone who points a gun at him immediately, regardless of their affiliation. He takes immense pride in Sambo, attempting to demonstrate that modern Sambo surpasses the ancient traditional Jujutsu practiced by Akisame. Despite his violent nature, he cares for Boris’s well-being, evident in their frequent conversations and his decision to disown Boris as a disciple to save him from potential death at the hands of Yomi. Ironically, Gaidar instructs Boris to remain calm on the battlefield, claiming that "people who lose their cool on the battlefield, die," despite his own frequent fits of rage that leave destruction in their wake. This contradiction likely stems from his understanding of their differing combat styles, recognizing that Boris is a Sei-type fighter while Gaidar himself is a Dou-type fighter.
