Summary
Capricorn El Cid serves as the Gold Saint of Capricorn in the Lost Canvas storyline. A man of Spanish nationality who underwent training in the Pyrenees Mountains, he presents himself as a quiet, introspective figure akin to a silent assassin. He is affiliated with Athena and has taken on three apprentices: Puppis Lacaille, Vela Tsubaki, and Pyxis Rusk. El Cid first makes his presence known during a mission to assist Manigoldo in Hades' Forest. He is immediately ambushed by six Specters, whom he eliminates using his signature arm-sword technique. His engagement with the enemy forces continues when he confronts Icelos, a god of Dream. The deity utilizes space-warping abilities that cause El Cid’s attack to sever his own arm. Despite launching a second assault, El Cid is knocked off a cliff and left unconscious. After recovering, the Capricorn Saint demonstrates the ability to cut through dimensions to enter the dream world. There, he challenges and bisects Phantasos before facing Icelos again. Although the god’s spatial manipulation initially hampers El Cid’s powers, allowing Icelos to attack from any direction, the Saint counters this by marking the warped space with his own blood. This allows him to track the deity’s movements, resulting in Icelos’ decapitation. El Cid proceeds with his mission to rescue Sisyphos from the dream realm. He encounters Pegasus Tenma and saves him from the collapse of Morphia. As they attempt to reach Oneiros, the god of Dreams, the deity summons the spirits of his three deceased brothers to form a monstrous entity. El Cid and Tenma’s souls are nearly destroyed until Athena intervenes with her staff, representing the goddess Niké. The Saints then coordinate their efforts to defeat the monster. El Cid tears open a dimensional rift in the dream world and employs Jumping Stone, a powerful leg technique that uses the opponent's momentum against them, to launch the creature into the real world through the hole. Finally, he shatters the Sagittarius golden arrow into four pieces and fires them at Oneiros using his arm-sword technique, naming the attack Excalibur. This decisive strike allows him to finally defeat the god of Dreams.
