Summary
Bankotsu served as the leader and founder of the Shichinintai, a band of seven mercenaries. Despite being the youngest member, he was the strongest and earned the title of "great big brother" from his comrades. He acquired his massive halberd, Banryuu, from a castle whose former lord had previously attempted to destroy the Shichinintai due to the fear they instilled in rogue military leaders. The weapon was so heavy that it required the combined strength of the lord's three finest soldiers to lift it, yet Bankotsu wielded it with ease. His mastery of Banryuu made him a formidable opponent, posing a significant challenge to InuYasha in direct melee combat even when the latter lacked his Tessaiga.
