Suzaku is the last of the Four Beasts, a phoenix-like demon whose hair functions as antennae. An Upper C class demon, he wields lightning-based powers and uses a flute to command humans infected by Makai Bugs in the Human World. After the other Saint Beasts were killed, Suzaku dispatched the infected humans to assassinate Keiko Yukimura, acting on intelligence from his pet demon bird, Murugu. He proved to be a formidable opponent for Yusuke, utilizing lightning and the ability to split into seven separate entities. Although Yusuke struggled against these attacks, he inadvertently damaged one of Suzaku’s antennae, which caused his lightning strikes to miss their mark. The conflict reached a climax when Keiko was about to be killed; with no Reiki available, Yusuke nearly sacrificed himself, using his life energy to fire a Shotgun technique that destroyed all seven of Suzaku’s forms. Before his death, Suzaku expressed remorse and acknowledged Yusuke’s belief in protecting others, marking him as the most honorable of the Four Sacred Beasts. His hairstyle bears a strong resemblance to that of Jareth the Goblin King, the villain from the film Labyrinth.
