Summary
Karin Nanase, born Haruko Nanase, was a gravure idol who achieved niche fame following her role in a late-night television drama. Her life ended under mysterious circumstances, giving rise to the urban legend of the Steel Lady Nanase. Physically, she possessed a voluptuous figure with long purple hair styled into twin ponytails and exceptionally large breasts. Her career began when she was scouted from high school by an idol manager who recognized the commercial potential of her physique. While initially focusing on gravure photography, she secured a major break with a television program that utilized both her image and vocal talents. However, her life took a dark turn after her father’s untimely death and the subsequent release of his notes, which falsely accused her of murder. This scandal hounded her in the media, forcing her into hiding as she moved from one hotel to another. Consumed by guilt, she visited an abandoned construction site on a rainy night to smoke. When a stack of unstable steel beams collapsed toward her, she chose not to resist, allowing the debris to crush her. Despite her troubled end, Nanase was fundamentally kind and soft-spoken. She maintained a complex affection for her abusive father, continuing to provide him with food even after his divorce from her mother. She tended to smoke when overwhelmed by depression and was noted for her high intelligence, having passed the entrance examination for a prestigious university on her first attempt.
