Katsuragi, Yako
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Born on March 10, Yako Katsuragi is a sixteen-year-old high school student with a petite build, standing at 159 centimeters tall and weighing 43 kilograms. As the inaugural character presented in the manga, her story begins when Neuro arrives to desecrate the shrine belonging to her father, offering to help uncover the truth behind his demise. This encounter sparks a partnership where Yako serves as the public face and investigator, while Neuro poses as her assistant. Yako is defined by her voracious appetite and a stomach of steel, traits that are often the subject of attention. She possesses a sharp intuition for human psychology, which allows her to gather insights that elude Neuro due to his lack of understanding of human nature. This psychological acumen, combined with her physical endurance, enables her to grasp Neuro’s perspective; she once likened his view of food as puzzles to his need for oxygen, drawing parallels to her own experience hunting for oysters underwater. Although Neuro frequently abuses her, he occasionally offers praise for her successes, albeit in a condescending manner. Despite the daily hardships she endures, Yako remains remarkably composed during high-stress events, such as her abduction by Sai. While her time with Neuro has undoubtedly influenced her resilience, it remains unclear whether she possessed such calmness before becoming his front. Throughout the series, her potential as a genuine detective expands, a progression evident from the Aya Asia case onward, though the specific details of her development vary between the anime and manga adaptations.
