Summary
Ayumi, Eri, and Yuka form Kagome Higurashi’s trio of present-day school friends, known for their nosiness regarding her personal life. They frequently pressure Kagome to pursue Hojo, a popular schoolboy who openly admires her. Initially, upon hearing Kagome’s bizarre descriptions of InuYasha, the group urged her to abandon him, but they eventually warmed up to the idea of him as "Mr. Possessive." In episode 160, "The Lucky But Two-Timing Scoundrel!," the classmates finally meet InuYasha and are intrigued by his exotic appearance, officially approving of their friend’s relationship and bringing Kagome considerable joy. Among the friends, Ayumi is the most naive and gentle. While Eri and Yuka view Kagome’s delinquent boyfriend as bad news and actively encourage Hojo’s platonic romantic pursuits, Ayumi is almost always supportive of the couple. Her support stems from her innocent demeanor and optimism, but she also genuinely believes Kagome is in love and that the couple can overcome any obstacles. Additionally, Ayumi has a passion for music, serving as the maestro for her school’s choir performance during the cultural festival.
