Summary
Agnès Chevalier de Milan is a twenty-three-year-old Captain of the Tristain musketeers serving under Henrietta. She is depicted as a strict military figure who harbors a strong dislike for Mages, particularly those specializing in fire. Despite her known prejudice, she remains inactive when Louise misunderstands Saito. Agnès often stresses that mages must not rely too heavily on their magic, noting that combat moves too quickly for spellcasting to be effective against enemy swords and guns. During a scene where she and Louise eavesdrop on conspirators, Agnès kisses Louise to silence her gasp, an act that, along with Siesta’s commentary, suggests she may be a lesbian. However, she is generally portrayed as uninterested in romance, focusing instead on fighting and revenge. She first appears in the second season. In the third season, upon discovering that Colbert is alive, she abandons her quest for vengeance, deciding to end the cycle of hatred so his students would not hate her for killing him. In the light novels, specifically after Saito confronts the advancing Albion army in Volume 7 Chapter 9 and is subsequently saved by Tiffania in Volume 8, Henrietta tasks Agnès with locating Saito. She finds him in Tiffania’s village, where he claims to be useless without his Gandalfr powers and asks her to report his death to the Queen. Agnès then trains Saito, later telling Derflinger that Saito made her take their spar seriously.
