Summary
Bede serves as a rival in Pokémon Sword and Shield, initially gaining recognition through an endorsement from Chairman Rose before having his Gym Challenger status revoked. He was subsequently recruited by Opal to become her successor. While he primarily specializes in Psychic types, he switches to Fairy types after taking over Opal's position. Bede is defined by his extreme pride regarding his skills as a Pokémon Trainer and his past association with Chairman Rose, driving his constant desire to prove his worth. He often isolates himself and displays rude behavior, traits likely stemming from being sent to an orphanage at a young age and lacking socialization skills. Following his succession of Opal, he appears to have mellowed out, even becoming willing to sign autographs.
