Prime Video Secures Global Streaming for Science SARU's 'The Ghost in the Shell'

Prime Video has locked in exclusive global streaming rights for the upcoming television anime The Ghost in the Shell, produced by acclaimed studio Science SARU.
The series premieres July 7, 2026. It will air on Japan's Kansai TV and Fuji TV network in the Ka-Anival!! block at 11:00 p.m. JST, with Prime Video offering the fastest domestic access at 11:30 p.m. JST. The platform will simulcast episodes exclusively across more than 240 countries and territories, excluding mainland China, Russia, and Vietnam.
A new Prime Video-exclusive trailer was released alongside the announcement, spotlighting Public Security Section 9's operations led by full-body cyborg Motoko Kusanagi and hinting at the enigmatic hacker known as the Puppet Master.
Directed by Mokochan with scripts by EnJoe Toh and character designs by Shuhei Handa, the project brings a fresh take on Masamune Shirow's landmark cyberpunk manga. The first two episodes will screen in the U.S. at Anime Expo 2026 with a staff panel to follow.
