Glasses-and-Yankee Romcom Locks 2027 Debut With Dual Teasers, Core Staff

Shoujo romcom fans just got a clearer look at the road to airdate. The official site for Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun—also known in English as Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent—has unveiled main staff credits, a pair of contrasting teaser visuals, and a first promotional clip, locking a 2027 television premiere for Naruki’s Kodansha series.

Helming the adaptation is director Makoto Hoshino (Banished from the Hero’s Party), with series composition by Megumi Shimizu (Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) and character designs by Ruriko Watanabe. Animation is a co-production between Studio Flad and WAO WORLD—a pairing that should suit the manga’s blend of soft school-life charm and delinquent-edge secrets.

The new art doubles down on that dual vibe: one “tokimeki” (heart-flutter) key visual and a reverse “yankee” take, mirroring the story’s glasses-wearing good-boy façade versus the rough edges underneath. A short teaser PV is also live, teasing atmosphere more than plot while the cast remains under wraps.

Naruki’s manga has run in Bessatsu Friend since January 2021, with Kodansha’s tankōbon lineup already deep into the double digits and Seven Seas handling English releases. For an industry that keeps stacking 2027 shoujo and romcom slots, this staff-and-visual drop is the kind of mid-cycle update that turns a bare adaptation notice into a show you can actually mark on the calendar.
