Firefly Wedding Adds Ito & Tsuda, TOOBOE Ending Ahead of Oct. 9

The countdown for Hotaru no Yomeiri just got a lot louder. Oreco Tachibana’s Meiji-set romance—Firefly Wedding to English readers—will bow on Fuji TV’s noitaminA block on October 9 at 11:30 p.m., and the official site marked the occasion with fresh cast, a new ending song, and a second teaser PV.

Kent Ito joins as Kotaro Ogawa, the childhood friend and bodyguard to count’s daughter Satoko Kirigaya, while Kenjiro Tsuda steps in as Saegusa, a Tennyo Island yakuza figure hired for a far darker job. Both veterans bring immediate heat to a story already built on obsession, survival, and doomed devotion.

Singer-songwriter TOOBOE—fresh off high-profile anime work—handles the ending theme “Yumegokochi,” which scores the newly released second teaser. The clip pushes deeper into Tennyo Island’s sealed-off world, teasing Satoko’s perilous gambit to escape and the escalating bond with Shinpei as Kotaro and Saegusa enter the fray.

Takahiro Kamei (Urusei Yatsura 2022) directs at David Production, with Yuko Kakihara on series composition, Yukiko Aikyo on character designs, and NOGRID on the score. Tachibana’s manga has run on MangaONE since 2023 (volume 12 landed in June); Viz Media is rolling English volumes stateside, with volume 8 due in mid-October—right as the anime lights its first fireflies.
