Bones Confirms SK8 Season 2 Progress as Utsumi Teases Winter Setting

Studio Bones just gave long-waiting SK8 the Infinity fans a real production pulse check. On August 8—timed with Reki’s birthday—the official project account dropped a new message and illustration from director Hiroko Utsumi, confirming that SK8 the Infinity Season 2 is making steady progress inside the studio.
The biggest new detail is seasonal: Utsumi’s update frames the sequel’s setting as winter, a sharp shift from the sun-baked “S” races that defined the original cour. The accompanying art sells a chilly “Winter SK8” vibe while the team stresses there is still no new footage ready for public release—proof the pipeline is active, not finished.
That caution is typical of careful Bones original work. Season 2 has been on the books since 2022, with the studio and Utsumi also shepherding the EXTRA PART OVA into fans’ hands first. A winter stage opens fresh board, costume, and location challenges for animators—and plenty of fan theories about snowy “beefs” or Langa’s home turf—but the official line remains simple: production is advancing, more news will follow.
For now, the studio’s message is clear. Bones has not shelved the project; the crew is grinding, the season is cold, and the next drop will arrive when the frames are ready.
