Akane-banashi Season 2 Confirmed for January 2027

TV Asahi and the production team announced on June 20 that Akane-banashi will return for a second season in January 2027. The news dropped right after the first season wrapped its Karaku Cup arc, giving fans an immediate reason to celebrate the continuation of Akane Osaki’s journey.
Season 2 will adapt the manga's Apprentice Arc. After graduating high school and formally becoming Shiguma Arakawa’s disciple, Akane steps onto the professional stage under the name Akane Arakawa, diving deeper into the fiercely competitive world of rakugo storytelling.
Six new cast members were revealed for characters introduced in the season finale. Character designer Kii Tanaka created a special celebratory illustration featuring Akane alongside Hikaru and Karashi to mark the occasion. The core staff, including director Ayumu Watanabe at ZEXCS, returns for the new season.
The adaptation of Yūki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga stood out for its authentic take on traditional Japanese rakugo performance. With strong viewer support and a rapid renewal, the series has carved out a distinctive place in the current anime lineup.
