The Esoteric Retina is a Video CD release from Japanese artist Osamu Sato, who is recognized for creating surrealistic titles like LSD: Dream Emulator. The VCD was considered highly rare, and for years, the disc's contents were not available online. Beyond the fact that it contained several music videos by Sato, little to no information about its material was known. In February 2018, a copy of The Esoteric Retina was put up for auction, and the disc's contents were extracted and made accessible online in late June 2018.
