Kame-Sen'nin gives Goku and Kuririn the assignment of rescuing the sleeping princess from Lucifer, promising to take them on as his students if they succeed. However, the task turns out to be far more dangerous than they first expected.

Nine prominent Japanese animators each contributed a short piece centered on the theme of robots to Robot Carnival. Though the segments are independent, they are connected through their shared examination of human-robot relationships and the outcomes of creating artificial life. Each film delivers its own unique viewpoint on these topics. The individual shorts consist of "Opening," co-directed by Atsuko Fukushima and Katsuhiro Otomo; "Franken's Gears" by Koji Morimoto; "Deprive" by Hidetoshi Omori; "Presence" by Yasuomi Umetsu; "Star Light Angel" by Hiroyuki Kitazume; "Cloud" by Mao Lamdo; "A Tale of Two Robots" by Hiroyuki Kitakubo; "Nightmare" by Takashi Nakamura; and "Ending," again co-directed by Atsuko Fukushima and Katsuhiro Otomo.

This series is made up largely of standalone episodes that retell different fairy or folk tales. Despite its name, not all of the stories are taken from the Grimm Brothers' collection. Long ago, there existed a household that wielded great sway over the governance of the Imperial Court. Having difficulty adjusting to her unfamiliar surroundings and longing for her previous home and companions, Patty discovers comfort upon becoming friends with Alice. Their connection deepens quickly, and they pass numerous days exploring novel activities and savoring one another's presence. Via their adventures, they encounter many individuals and steadily form a sizable, tight circle of friends, creating lasting joyful memories.

In Legend of the Forest, a peaceful woodland and its inhabitants confront devastation brought by humans. A squirrel, native to this forest, sets out on a fight to protect his home, facing numerous hardships and obstacles throughout his journey.

Mitsuteru Yokoyama's Kamen no Ninja Akakage centers on its hero, Red Shadow, who sports a vivid red-and-black costume and a characteristic red mask. The story unfolds in Feudal Japan, where Red Shadow teams up with his fellow ninja Aokage and Shirokage to battle wicked warlords, sorcerers, and enormous monsters. Their clashes are aided by an assortment of advanced futuristic gadgets, resulting in a surprising but engaging mix with the historical setting.

The world is split between celestial beings and malevolent forces, and only the young hero Yamato Shintei holds the power to vanquish the demonic enemies.

This series presents short animated adaptations of classic Japanese folktales, such as Taro Maegami, The Riceball Family, The Star Catcher, Thunder as the Groom, and The Elephant's Sneezing. These segments originally aired as part of the children's program Tondeke Gutchonpa.
