The Spider and the Tulip

Synopsis

A spider spins its web, hoping to catch a ladybug, but the ladybug escapes by hiding inside a tulip. When a violent storm arrives, the spider is tossed around by the wind, while the ladybug stays sheltered within the flower.

Background

Kumo to Tulip is based on a fairy tale of the same name created by writer Michiko Yokoyama (1895–1986), the original of which was compiled as part of the 1939 book Yoiko Tsuyoiko illustrated by Youko Tooyama (1904–1958).
