Synopsis

In 2017, a group of brilliant scientists achieve a major advancement in bioengineering. However, all these new technologies are applied to military purposes, sparking a fresh phase of the arms race. Vanguards represent the pinnacle of modern bioengineering and the most advanced weapon, so they are deployed extensively in this race. Despite their extraordinary combat effectiveness, vanguards have their lifespans shortened by the nanomachines they rely on. Most vanguards typically retire from the army after a certain number of service years. The heroine Liuli has likewise depleted a great deal of her lifespan after carrying out missions for a long period. With merely 380 days remaining, Liuli is assigned a new task: to free a hostage held inside a civilian facility. This is undoubtedly a challenging assignment for a vanguard like Liuli, who is skilled solely in combat and killing. Nevertheless, Liuli ultimately chooses to accept the mission without hesitation. During the operation, Liuli discovers to her surprise that the hostage taker is a former vanguard. This ex-vanguard, Zhongrong Zhou, tearfully demands that the government hand over the son of Eden. As a vanguard herself, Liuli feels intense disdain for Zhou. To eradicate this disgrace to the vanguards, a clash between two vanguards erupts.
