Synopsis

Continues the story of Legend of Exorcism

Having spent his entire life on Mount Taiheng, half-yao Kong Hongjun finally receives permission to descend into the human world, charged with three objectives: find out who killed his father, drive out the Black Jiao and their allied yao tribes infiltrating Chang'an, and deliver the Heart Lamp to a descendant of the Chen family. Yet on his very first night in the city, the Heart Lamp is accidentally absorbed by General Li Jinglong of the military. Kong Hongjun gets a mysterious summons to join Chang'an's Court of Exorcism, where he finds himself unexpectedly partnered with the disgraced Li Jinglong, now his commanding officer. Alongside a foreign noble yao, a timid scholar, and other companions, Kong Hongjun and Li Jinglong must work together to rid Chang'an of the yao plaguing its streets. At the same time, Kong Hongjun must conceal his yao nature from the anti-yao Li Jinglong, all while trying to retrieve the Heart Lamp lodged inside Li Jinglong's body.

In the twelfth year of the Tianbao era, the imminent return of the Heavenly Demon cast a dark shadow. Demon King Xieyu sought to harness the Heavenly Demon's power to dominate the demon realm, overthrow the human world, and transform it into demonic territory. To ready for the Heavenly Demon's reappearance four years later, the Exorcism Bureau summoned its talented youth back to Chang'an. Upon reuniting at the frontier, the Bureau's agents discovered a revolt involving animated corpses that appeared linked to the legendary White Deer, casting doubt on its true location.
