Synopsis

Director Takeyuki Kanda, celebrated for his contributions to many animation projects including VIFAM, passed away suddenly at age 52 on July 27, 1996. As a tribute to his legacy, a new television series called Ginga Hyouryuu Vifam 13 aired from March 21 to October 3, 1998, solely within the Kansai region. The show consists of 26 episodes and functions as a side story to the original VIFAM, introducing fresh characters and an additional RV. Its narrative fits chronologically between episodes 22 and 26 of the original series, with episodes 24 and 25 serving as brief recaps. The series is divided into three parts: Act I (episodes 1–14), Interlude (episodes 15–18), and Act II (episodes 19–26), with very little continuity connecting Act I and Act II. While some view it as a New Testament to the original VIFAM, it is frequently regarded as apocryphal or even pseudo-VIFAM due to various reasons. Watching the series offers the clearest understanding of these viewpoints.
