Nian Bing is the offspring of a fire mage and an ice mage. After the Ice Lord murdered both his parents, Nian Bing inherited the magic gems from his mother and father. While attempting to flee from the Ice Lord's minions, Nian Bing somehow succeeded in casting fire and ice magic simultaneously—a feat considered impossible for any single mage. He tumbled off a cliff, losing consciousness, and was rescued by an old man. Upon waking, the old man fed him a dish so exquisite that Nian Bing had never tasted anything like it. It turned out that the old man was a culinary genius, once known as a spirit chef, and he insists on taking Nian Bing as his disciple, no matter what.
