Synopsis
In the shounen story "Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid," the innocent 16-year-old Mamori Tokonome endures constant teasing at school because of how her surname sounds. Her life changes dramatically when she is abducted during a PE class and ends up stranded on the mysterious island called Mermaid. There, she meets Mirei Shikishima, another castaway who helps Mamori unlock her hidden powers. Through a passionate kiss, Mirei activates Mamori's Exter transformation, allowing her to turn into a combat-ready warrior powered by arousal. Surviving on Mermaid Island requires forming alliances and outsmarting rivals. The island is filled with intriguing figures like Charlotte, a sadistic ruler of a group of Exters; Meifon, a cunning and voracious individual; Akira Hiiragi, a charismatic enigma; and the provocative biker duo, Lady Lady. Mamori and Mirei's strong and intimate bond becomes essential for navigating the island's dangers and ensuring their survival in its scandalous environment.
Background
The franchise consists of three projects; Mermaid, a television anime series produced by Arms Corporation, which aired in Japan between October and December 2015; Bhikkhuni, a PlayStation Vita game; and Siren, a social game for iOS and Android devices also released in 2015.
