Liz and the Blue Bird
Liz to Aoi Tori
リズと青い鳥
Synopsis
In "Liz and the Blue Bird," the lonely life of Liz changes when a blue bird arrives disguised as a young girl. As their connection grows stronger, Liz must make a hard decision to truly understand her feelings for the Blue Bird. High school seniors and best friends Mizore Yoroizuka and Nozomi Kasaki are assigned to perform the lead parts in the third movement of the concert band piece "Liz and the Blue Bird," which is based on the fairy tale. Quiet Mizore plays the oboe, representing the gentle and kind Liz, while outgoing and well-liked Nozomi plays the flute, portraying the energetic Blue Bird. However, as they practice, the distance between Mizore and Nozomi seems to increase. Their lack of synchronicity bothers the band, and with graduation approaching, worries about the future make their emotions more complicated. With limited time to get their performance right, they struggle to connect with their roles. But if Mizore and Nozomi view the story from a different angle, will they find the courage to face painful realities? This spin-off film from the Hibike Euphonium! series weaves together the enchanting elements of a fairy tale, an emotional musical piece, and a fragile high school friendship.
