Season 2 of Cinderella Chef follows Ye Jiayao, a celebrated chef famous for her creative twists on classic Chinese dishes, who is unexpectedly sent back to ancient times after a cooking experiment goes wrong. She awakens as Ye Jin Xuan, daughter of a magistrate, but is soon kidnapped and taken to Hei Fang Camp. Here she encounters Xia Chun Yu, the bandit group's leader who is also the young master of the Jing An Marquis. Secretly, Xia Chun Yu serves as a royal operative working to uncover a conspiracy to steal the throne. They enter a fake marriage, and by using her exceptional culinary skills and modern knowledge, Ye Jiayao gradually gains the trust and affection of those around her, including Xia Chun Yu.
