Synopsis

Set in the vibrant 16th-century city of Florence during the Renaissance, Arte, a young noblewoman, harbors a dream to become an artist and play a part in the cultural renaissance. Following her father's passing, she loses her greatest supporter of her artistic aspirations. With societal expectations pushing her towards marriage and a life of refinement, the determined Arte defies these norms and ventures out into the city to seek an artisan who will accept her as an apprentice. Faced with the harsh realities of gender bias, Arte is repeatedly denied entry into the male-dominated world of artistry. Despite the widespread belief that women lack the skill for fine craftsmanship, she remains undeterred. Eventually, Arte catches the attention of a celebrated artisan named Leo, who agrees to take her under his wing due to his lack of existing disciples. Thus, Arte embarks on a new journey away from her privileged past. As she trains under Leo, Arte works hard to overcome numerous obstacles on her challenging path to mastering her craft and achieving recognition as an artisan.
