Synopsis

In the bustling heart of Shinjuku, numerous host and hostess clubs cater to patrons seeking indulgent evenings with beautiful companions. Yamada is one such companion, juggling university studies with her job, though she finds herself more captivated by the allure of becoming a top hostess than by academic success. The lucrative pay is too difficult to refuse, a reality that causes many young women to constantly enter and exit the industry. However, in 2012, she encounters someone entirely different. Mii-chan is a petite young woman who appears rather inept at most tasks—struggling to read or write and displaying unfortunate clumsiness—which earns her ridicule from both staff and customers. Yet, her vibrant energy and boundless motivation prove impossible to overlook, and Yamada finds herself drawn to Mii-chan's unique charm. This is a beautiful and tragic tale of an unlikely friendship and the unfortunate end that forever separated them.
