After her mother's sudden death, Shinozaki Sumire finds herself with no way to support herself. In desperation, she turns to the online platform Free Friends to look for work. Her first job leads her to connect with Kaito, unaware that they share a deeper bond than just two strangers. Kaito, the newest student teacher at Minatohashi Higashi Academy, harbors a secret habit. Unable and unwilling to form genuine intimate relationships, he satisfies his need for closeness through paid encounters. To fund this habit, he uses the Free Friends website to meet various women, mostly runaway students or those in need of extra money. At the heart of his struggles lies a deep-seated complex centered around violets, which bring back painful memories of his lost sister after his parents' divorce and separation during childhood. The scent or image of these flowers—"Sumire"—triggers a sense of emptiness and nostalgia that he can only overcome through physical intimacy. As the new semester approaches, the mention of the school's famous violet garden, even though it's out of season, drives Kaito back to Free Friends. A seemingly ordinary encounter leaves him completely unprepared for the girl waiting for him under the username "Sumi," a stunning beauty. When he discovers a few days later that "Sumi" is a student at Minatohashi Higashi Academy, known among her peers as "Sumire," Kaito checks the school records in disbelief.
