Synopsis
A 1972 short film titled Panda Kopanda (also known as Panda! Go Panda!), running 30 minutes, was conceived by Hayao Miyazaki, who wrote the screenplay, handled layouts, and managed key animation, with Isao Takahata directing. The story focuses on a young girl named Mimiko, left alone when her grandmother departs. A follow-up, Panda Kopanda: Amefuri Saakasu no Maki (Panda! Go Panda! & the Rainy-day Circus), released in 1973, continues the storyline and was produced by the same creative team. The title Panda Kopanda literally means "Panda, Baby Panda," though it was marketed in North America as Panda Go Panda.
