Synopsis

Centuries ago, all of humanity dwelt beneath the ocean. A faction eventually migrated to the surface, forsaking their aquatic existence and the divine blessing known as "Ena," which allowed them to breathe underwater. As time passed, the chasm between the sea-dwellers and surface inhabitants widened, though sporadic contact persisted. In "Nagi no Asu kara," Hikari Sakishima and Manaka Mukaido, accompanied by their childhood friends Chisaki Hiradaira and Kaname Isaki, are compelled to depart their underwater home to attend a school on the surface. There, they encounter Tsumugu Kihara, a classmate and fisherman who harbors a profound affection for the sea. As Hikari and their companions adapt to their new reality, they must navigate the deep-seated hostility and prejudice dividing the sea and surface communities, contend with turbulence in their personal relationships, and face an impending storm that threatens all who live above the waves.
