Continues the story of Chaika: The Coffin Princess
For over five centuries, the Gaz Empire was under the ruthless rule of the Taboo Emperor Arthur Gaz, known for his cruel experiments on his subjects. His reign ended five years ago when the Eight Heroes emerged victorious against him in a decisive battle for the capital, thus concluding the three-century-long war between the empire and the six-nation alliance. Tooru Acura, once a skilled saboteur during the conflict, now struggles to find a place in peacetime society as his combat skills go unused. His life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Chaika Trabant, a pale-haired Wizard carrying a coffin on her back. Chaika seeks to gather her father’s remains to provide him with a dignified burial and enlists Tooru and his adopted sister, Akari, to assist her. Meanwhile, the Council of Six Nations, established from the previous alliance, sends Albéric Gillette and his Kleeman Agency to track down and apprehend the deceased Emperor Gaz's daughter. Upon discovering the startling revelation about Chaika’s lineage, the Acura siblings must decide whether to support Chaika in her quest or to preserve the delicate peace that has been achieved on the continent.

Continuing their quest for Emperor Gaz's remains, Chaika remains determined to discover her true identity and purpose. At the same time, the Red Chaika persists in chasing down the emperor's scattered body parts. The Gillette corporation keeps up its campaign to seize all the Chaikas. During their journey, they come across a hidden secret left by Emperor Gaz, prompting Chaika, Frederica, Toru, and Akari to investigate the mystery more deeply.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle mostly tells an anime-exclusive story that utilizes content from novels 8 to 11 of the original novel series. Episodes 4 and 5 adapt the 7th novel.
